Supplements - Propolis
What Is It?
Propolis is a substance manufactured
by bees. Bees gather sap from certain trees which is sticky and has a high anti-microbial
activity and they combine it with their own nectar secretions to produce Propolis.
Bees use Propolis as a ‘glue’ to bind the hive together and to sterilise it
against infection.
Propolis is therefore of value as an antiseptic agent and is thought to have
an effect on the immune system due to its high flavonoid content.
