Nosebleeds

Nosebleeds have different causes at different ages. In children and in the younger person they are usually from an area called Little's area on the nasal septum just inside the nostrils. This is a region with lots of blood vessels. The best way to stop the bleeding is to pinch the nostrils together for 10-15 minutes. Occasionally nosebleeds are a complication of high blood pressure or problems with blood clotting. If they occur frequently then treatment may be required to seal the blood vessels.
