Other useful advice:

It’s important to keep your muscles working as much as you can. Gentle isotonic exercises - in which you use your own symmetrical limbs to push against each other - is an easy way to do this. A registered osteopath or physiotherapist can give you exercises specific to your condition. Acupuncture may help for the pain.

Swimming is also good exercise as you can do more movements with the water supporting up to two-thirds of your body weight, but you need to speak to your doctor about whether swimming is appropriate for your condition and have a swimming instructor monitoring you all the time.

Acupuncture can also help improve the effectiveness of your muscles.
