Yellow Nail Syndrome

So-called because sufferers develop yellow discolouration and grooving of their fingernails - is thought to be due to poorly functioning lymphatics. These are tiny tubes that drain lymphatic fluid in the body. Besides yellow nails, there may also be swelling of the arms or legs (due to accumulation of lymphatic fluid, called lymphoedema), the development of fluid around the lungs, causing shortness of breath, sinusitis and in some, bronchiectasis. Why it occurs is uncertain.
