Salpingitis

What you need to know:

There’s now a worrying increase in sexually transmitted diseases among the young - and the consequences can be long-term and heart breaking for girls, who may end up infertile. To play a responsible part in your youngsters’ sex education, it’s not enough to warn them of the dangers of pregnancy, HIV and Aids; they need to be told about sexual hygiene, including washing before and after intercourse - ideal though the bathroom bidet is, take care not to use the “jet” spray, as this can force unwanted bugs further into the vagina - using condoms, not having sex with anyone they suspect is promiscuous and not being promiscuous themselves.

There are no natural remedies or complementary therapies which can treat salpingitis, but some can be used - only alongside conventional medicine - to boost immunity and help the body fight underlying infections. Naturopaths would specifically advise a diet rich in citrus fruits, berries, tomatoes, peppers and watercress - and they’d certainly have other helpful guidance, too.
