Night Blindness

What you need to know:

It’s true - carrots can help you see in the dark. Night blindness, which can be extremely dangerous if a child is walking home from school in winter and when he or she starts pestering for driving lessons, is nearly always caused by a nutritional deficiency.

The most useful Supplements:

It’s best treated - and often cured - by taking vitamin A. Zinc is also necessary for the enzyme which makes Vitamin A more effective. You can take both of these as supplements.

Dietary changes that may be beneficial:

For food sources of these important nutrients, eat:
  • Carrots
  • Liver - but not if you’re pregnant
  • Pumpkin seeds
  • Shellfish
