Ear Wax

What you need to know:

Softening the wax with a little warm olive or almond oil is often all it takes to remove a build-up of wax blocking a child’s ear canal. Don’t heat the oil in a pan on the stove; place the bottle in a bowl of hot water, wait until it’s just warm, apply a few drops with a dropper and plug with cotton wool overnight.

Whatever you do, don’t go digging around in there yourself with a cotton bud.

If it doesn’t move your doctor or specialist will be able to syringe or - more often these days - suction the wax out.
