Otitis Externa

Otitis externa is inflammation of the ear canal and possibly also the pinna itself. It may be acute as a result of infection in a hair follicle, or it may be chronic and associated with skin irritation or conditions such as eczema. It is made worse by the use of such agents as cotton buds (put nothing in your ear smaller than your elbow). It may require treatment with drops containing steroids, with or without antibiotics.
