Pharyngeal Pouch

Pharyngeal pouch is a condition where there is a swelling of the pharyngeal wall which protrudes between 2 of the layers of cartilage. Instead of food passing down from the pharynx into the oesophagus, it enters the pouch and sometime later is regurgitated, so that undigested food appears in the throat some time after a meal. This requires surgery.
