Undescended Testicle

Undescended testicle describes the situation where one or both testicles have failed to descend into the scrotum by the time of birth. Undescended testicles are usually detected in early childhood, but occasionally present in adulthood. Since they may predispose to Cancer of the testicle, it is important that they are either brought down into the scrotum by an operation called orchidopexy, or removed. All men should be aware that they should have two testicles in the scrotum, and if one or both is missing they should seek medical advice.
