Gastric polyps

Gastric polyps are usually benign growths arising from the mucosal surface of the stomach and often described as being hyperplastic (i.e. e simply an overgrowth). They are usually asymptomatic but occasionally may ulcerate and bleed if they are very large. If they are multiple it may be indicative of a condition called familial polyposis coli (see large intestine section) and they could undergo malignant change.
