Menetriere's disease

Menetriere’s disease is a rare cause of gastritis. There is hypertrophy (overgrowth) of the mucosal folds of the stomach, which are red and inflamed (so it’s called Menetriere’s giant rugose hypertrophy). Besides gastritis, the folds leak a lot of protein, causing low blood protein levels. Without biopsy and examination under the microscope, it may be difficult to distinguish from malignancy.
