Rotator cuff tears

Rotator cuff tears are ruptures in the muscles that make up the rotator cuff, and are usually a consequence of degenerative change, but they may be a result of trauma. Besides causing instability in the shoulder, together with pain, they may be a cause of painful Arc syndrome or frozen shoulder from the resulting inflammation. They may cause an inability to lift the arm outwards. Surgical repair may be helpful.
