Foetal Alcohol Syndrome

Foetal alcohol syndrome is the term used to describe a number of foetal abnormalities which occur in the babies of women who have abused alcohol during the course of their pregnancy. The degree of abnormality depends on the amount of alcohol consumed, so the less consumed during the course of the pregnancy the better. Severely affected babies have small heads, small eyes, heart defects and intellectual impairment.
