Peyrione’s Disease

Peyrione’s disease is the presence of fibrous plaques in the connective tissue between the spongy corpus cavernosum and the skin of the shaft of the penis. This causes the penis to bend in erection, which may not only be painful but may also prevent intercourse.

The cause of this condition is not known but it may be associated with increased fibrous tissue elsewhere. The number of different treatments used indicates that there is no single remedy which is particularly satisfactory. Surgery may be helpful. It often resolves on its own.
