Rhinophyma

Rhinophyma is a condition where there is over growth of the sebaceous glands of the nose. The nose becomes hugely swollen, bulbous, craggy and red. This is a complication of a disorder called rosacea, which is an inflammatory condition affecting the face, causing flushing and redness. It may be familial, and sometimes responds to treatment with antibiotics. Plastic surgery may be required to treat the rhinophyma if the appearance is causing social embarrassment.
