Cancer of the Tongue

Cancer of the Tongue is more likely in people who smoke pipes or cigars. It may result from malignant change in an area of leucoplakia. It usually presents as a lump or as an ulcer which will not heal over a period of weeks. Cancer of the tongue may be present with persistent pain affecting the neck, or earache.

Also see Leukoplakia for more information.

Ulcers which do not heal and persist for longer than 3 weeks, may not be aphthous ulcers. They need further investigation.
