Osgood Schlatter's disease

Osgood Schlatter’s disease is inflammation of the tibial tuberosity, the place where the tendon from the bottom of the kneecap is attached to the tibia, the larger of the bones between the knee and the foot. It is a disorder affecting predominantly adolescent males who indulge in a lot of sport. There is swelling and tenderness of the tuberosity, which may fragment. It is usually bilateral, and resolves with reduced exercise. Topical anti-inflammatory agents may relieve the pain. Very rarely surgery may be required to remove the fragments.
