Spider naevi

Spider naevi are red dots with a surrounding array of find red blood vessels which look like spider’s legs. Pressing on them makes them disappear, and they reappear immediately the pressure is removed. They are caused by a tiny blood vessel called an arteriole penetrating through the skin to appear at the surface. Everybody has one or two, with women having more than men, and more during pregnancy. Large numbers may be a sign of underlying liver disease.
