Osteomas and Osteochondromas

Osteomas and Osteochondromas are benign tumours arising from bone or cartilage respectively. They may cause pain and swelling, and most commonly occur at the end of long bones such as the femur (the bone between the hip and the knee) or the humerus (the bone between the elbow and the shoulder). If the pain and discomfort is severe it may merit removal: some feel that since they may undergo malignant change, they should be removed whether they cause symptoms or not.
