Labial Fusion

Labial fusion occurs in otherwise normal baby girls who have a fine membrane, called an adhesion, joining the two labia - the outer lips of the vulva. This can be dissolved using oestrogen cream applied sparingly, but sometimes the adhesions recur and the treatment may need to be repeated. Rarely they require division under anaesthetic.
