Himalayan Rock Salt is a type of salt hand-mined from underground caves.
Created many hundreds of thousands of years ago by the drying out of a natural salt lake and protected from modern contaminants and pollutants ever since, it is used in small amounts instead of normal table or rock salt either directly on food, or mixed in water to form a brine; this can be taken as a tonic, either a teaspoon per day, or mixed in a litre of water to help with hydration.
Himalayan Rock Salt is said to contain 84 trace minerals, but is primarily sodium and potassium chloride.
