What you need to know

Both peaches and nectarines, which are closely related, are good for problems affecting the Digestive System, the Heart and Circulatory System, the Nerves and the Reproductive System. They are recommended during pregnancy, and act as a very gentle laxative. They are also good for low sodium diets and for treating high cholesterol and high blood pressure.
Dried peaches are particularly good for treating anaemia, fatigue and constipation.

What does this food contain?

Peaches and nectarines are good sources of vitamin C, and also contain fibre , some betacarotene and small amounts of minerals are also present. When dried, the amounts of minerals are more concentrated and useful amounts of Iron and potassium are present. Tinned peaches contain less vitamin C and should be bought in natural juice rather than syrup, as for all tinned fruit.

A poultice made by soaking peach leaves in boiling water, cooled to a comfortable level is very good for treating boils and carbuncles.
