Mesquite meal is a naturally sweet, high fibre product made from ground seed pods from the American Mesquite tree.
It is a flour-like product with appetite-suppressing qualities, as well as containing useful nutritional qualities; mix it with other flours at up to 25%. It tastes a little like coffee or caramel, so can also be used as a flavouring or spice.
As well as protein, dietary fibre and minerals, Mesquite flour has a low carbohydrate content and low glycemic index value.
Nutrients
Mesquite meal has the ability to stabilize your blood sugar level, which is good news for diabetics and weight watchers. Adding a tablespoon of mesquite meal to meal replacement drinks may help them work for longer.
