Guarana is an Amazonian climbing plant best known for its fruit, which contain high levels of caffeine in the seeds.

The seeds are commonly used to make soft drinks and are the source of most of the caffeine consumed in soft drinks in South America .

What does this food contain?

As well as minerals, fats, starch and caffeine Guarana contains Theobromine and Theophylline, both cardiac stimulants, and has a high protein content.

Guarana drinks are used for their energising effect, but also for their positive effect on memory, alertness and mood. In addition, studies have shown that combinations containing Guarana have a depressive effect on appetitie, leading to greater weight loss in study groups. The high levels of caffeine have also been linked with some onset of seizures when consumed to excess.
