Also called sol, dillisk, dilsk or creathnach, Dulse is a type of red seaweed found in the Northern hemisphere.
It can be eaten fresh, or dried and ground or diced. It can be eaten on its own, or added to soups or sauces, or combined with cheese and oven baked. It may also be added to bread or pizza dough, or used as a flavour enhancer in place of additives such as mono-sodium glutamate.
As well as minerals, dietary fibre and vitamins, Dulse has a good flavour and quite a high protein content.
Nutrients
Dulse is relatively low in Sodium, unlike many seaweeds. It is often found on sale a seaside stalls in Irel;and under the name of Dillisk.
