Stroke
Where there is destruction of brain cells, usually as a result of blockage of blood supply, can affect vision if the cells of the optic tract are involved. This may cause blindness affecting one side of the field of vision. Because of the way the optic nerves divide behind the eye, each eye will suffer the same loss of vision. This means the vision is much poorer than in a patient with a single eye, who has a full field of vision.
