Short Sight (Myopia)

Short Sight (Myopia) is the condition where we see things close up clearly, but things in the distance are blurred. It is caused by the lens not focussing the light on the retina; possibly because the eyeball is too long. It is uncommon in young children, but should be tested for, in those who have a strong family history. It is corrected by using glasses or contact lenses which are concave, or (in adults) by surgery to the cornea.
