Long Sight (Hypermetropia)

Long Sight (Hypermetropia) is the condition where we see distant objects clearly, but those close up are blurred. It is the commonest refractive error of childhood, and if not corrected can lead to loss of vision on the affected eye (Amblyopia) because the development of the visual cortex (that part of the brain that processes visual signals) is suppressed. It is corrected by the use of glasses with a convex lens for close vision.
