Iritis

Iritis is inflammation of the iris, and may be associated with inflammation of the rest of the choroid, a condition called uveitis. Since the iris is inside the eye, unlike the conjunctiva, inflammation affects vision, because there are white blood cells in the anterior chamber, and the pupil cannot react properly. It is very rare in childhood, but may affect adolescents. It may be associated with other conditions, and needs specialist assessment.
