Dry Eye

Dry Eye syndrome is caused by a deficit in tear production which may develop as we get older, or may be associated with other disease processes such as rheumatoid arthritis (called Sjorgen's syndrome). The eye feels gritty and irritated. Artificial tear supplements may be helpful, and prevent scarring and tethering of the conjunctiva, which can lead to problems with the function of the eyelids.
