Meniere's Disease

Menieres disease is characterised by symptoms of vertigo associated with deafness and tinnitus. There are recurrent attacks which last hours and are thought to be due to an increase in pressure of the fluid in the inner ear. Once the attack is over hearing returns to normal. They may be helped by agents which act to reduce the activity of the labyrinth, by reducing salt intake, or by surgery.
