Dizziness

Dizziness may mean light-headedness or a sensation that the room or the surroundings are moving in a circular direction (Vertigo): Light-headedness can occur as a result of reduction in the blood supply to the brain. It commonly happens if we stand up suddenly having been sitting down for a period of time. This is called POSTURAL HYPOTENSION, and is due to blood pooling in the lower half of the body.
The symptoms usually disappear quickly. It may be made worse by some medicines such as those used to treat high blood pressure, or when we have any infection such as a virus which causes a fever.Vertigo is an alarming sensation of movement. Usually the room appears to be spinning, but occasionally it may be that the ground appears to tilt. It may be very severe and disabling, and accompanied by nausea and vomiting. It is caused by disturbances in the function of the cells in the labyrinth.
