Conductive Deafness

What you need to know:

Conductive deafness may respond well to herbs and natural therapies, depending on the underlying cause. It’s essential that any problems involving hearing loss in children are seen by your doctor and, if necessary, by an ear, nose and throat consultant as soon as possible as hearing problems often result in poor performance at school.

Before doing anything else, make sure your child doesn’t have a foreign body lodged in his or her ear. On no account try to remove things like beads yourself. It’s almost inevitable that you’ll simply push the object further into the ear and possibly damage the eardrum.

Congestion of the sinuses by excessive or infective mucous is a common cause of hearing problems. See sinusitis in the Nose section. A build up of earwax is another frequent cause. See earwax.

Hearing disorders are always best treated by professional practitioners. The best therapies are Naturopathy, Acupuncture and cranial Osteopathy.
