Temporal Arteritis

Temporal arteritis is inflammation of the temporal artery which supplies blood to the front of the scalp. The pain is severe and the artery is tender to the touch. This is a condition affecting elderly people, and requires urgent treatment using steroids in order to prevent inflammation of the retinal artery, which can lead to blindness.
