Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is a condition involving obsessional thoughts which intrude repeatedly and cause anxiety, often centring on fears of infestation of contamination, and repeated actions such as counting or hand washing or checking, which may affect older adolescent, particularly girls with a perfectionist personality.

These thoughts and actions can become life dominating. It may be associated with other diseases such as depression. It responds to treatment with anti-depressants and to psychological approaches.
