Migraine
Migraine is a recurrent disabling headache, throbbing in nature, often associated with nausea and vomiting. It may affect just one side of the head, though the side may vary in different attacks. Some sufferers experience a warning sign - an `aura` - that an attack may be on its way. This may involve changes in vision (flashing lights, temporary blindness) or numbness or tingling in one part of the body. Sometimes attacks may be triggered by particular foods or periods of stress and anxiety. It is thought to be due to the action of a particular chemical - serotonin - on blood vessels in the brain. In children, the aura may occur without headache.
