Hyperactivity
Hyperactivity, often associated with short attention span and behaviour difficulties, when it is sometimes called Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), is the name given to the condition where the child seems overactive with fidgeting, inability so stay still and sometimes destructive behaviour. While some children are simply lively and find concentration difficult, in others the condition is so severe that it may require both psychological and behavioural treatment together with medication to increase the attention span. Untreated, this can lead to anti-social behaviour in adolescence.
Hyperactivity may also result from sensitivity to certain foods, particularly dyestuffs, or as a side effect of medication, particularly some of those used to treat asthma.
