Coma

A Coma is a state of unconsciousness where there is no response to vigorous external stimulus.

It usually follows a head injury, but can also result from drug overdose or prolonged interference with the supply of oxygen to the brain. It can occur as a result of low sugar levels in diabetic patients on treatment using drugs that lower the blood sugar level - hypoglycaemic coma.
